How to Buy a Cupping Set

When buying a cupping set, there are several types to choose from.  You have glass cupping sets, plastic cupping sets, bamboo cupping sets, and magnetic cupping sets to name a few.  Each has their own characteristics for use in suction cup treatments.

Glass Cupping Set
The glass cupping is used in the traditional method of cupping therapy.  It requires a flame to heat the cup and the air inside.  As the air cools down, the air contracts creating suction inside the glass cup.  Many

Plastic Cupping Set
The plastic cupping set has many advantages in terms of ease of use.  They are light weight and use a hand pump to create the negative pressure inside the cup.  Since no flame is required, these can be applied quickly to the patient.   Also, the pump allows you to adjust the amount of negative pressure for each cup.  It is clear like the glass cups so you can see the treatment progress of the area.

Magnetic Cupping Set
Many manufacturers of the plastic cupping sets also make magnetic cupping sets.  The magnetic points are placed inside the cup and have a point that acts to perform magnetic acupuncture treatment.  There are magnets with north and south polarities.

Bamboo Cupping Set
In ancient times, doctors used cups made of bamboo.  These are still available today and they require a flame to create the suction.

Rubber Cupping Set
Rubber cupping sets are unique and different from glass and plastic cups because they are flexible.  Their flexibility allows them to be placed on more areas such as the elbows, knees, hands, feet, shoulders, and other joints.  They are durable and won't break and are softer on the skin so they make a good set for sensitive skin and children.  The downside is that they are not transparent.

As you can see, there are several types of cupping sets.  If you are a practitioner looking for a set, you may want to acquire a range of cupping set types since each patient will have different needs.
